If your lucky you will one day find your twin flame, the ultimate version of soulmates. The only thing about setting off on such a quest is that once embarked, you will be empty till you find that person. There’s also no guarantee this person will ever manifest in this lifetime, some would go as far to say that the finding of such a person leads to a completion and personal ascension for you and your mate. The latter concept turns soulmate seeking into something greater than finding love or happiness, but a personal journey for the soul, as it has been shattered at birth and seeks to bring itself back together to return to the source of creation.

Yet I warn, such a quest comes with much hardship, and frankly a level of heartache that breaches the core of your soul. :(

Yeah, even though these are spiritual terms… at heart they can be described psychologically. Any such search for the reasons stated, is codependent and not healthy for anyone.

I believe in Souls, and that Souls split or emerged from Source. But I don’t believe that they are incomplete because of that, they are just a microcosm, or a hologram… of Source. Meaning, you are complete just by being you. :)

To me the virtous sincerity of soulmate pursuit shows of an inner human beauty which sadly doesn’t adequately emanate into our physical world. I would say like Melissa anyone who doesn’t feel whole is infact not a half soul but a suffering soul, who needs the oneness with its original source to feel whole once more.
This search that can be too often made in the external physical world, eventually comes back full circle to the position of the soul once more, where in the realisation that the soul was always connected to the source and that in some way had become unrealised caused by the physical realm. And that two souls not suffering from codependency in some form may share lifes experience in better harmony.

Mark, it’s interesting how you describe the pursuit as an inner human beauty.

According to the belief system where the Soul is a part of Source (aka my belief system), no Souls are “incomplete.” But even in this community, for lack of a more specific term, the New Age community, people still cling to the idea that they need their Soul Mate (to complete and validate them).

Of course if you get into other belief systems, such as Christianity, there is no notion (at least from my non-religious understanding) that a Soul is a part of God. The codependent Soul Mate search is then externalized by the the quest to be rejoined with God in order to be complete.

And just to step back into the previous belief system, the quest for Ascension has the same roots, to rejoin not with the Christian God, but with Source. Many people want so badly to reintegrate into Source, without considering that maybe they chose to experience physical duality for a reason — other than to escape it as soon as they get “down” here.

And that two souls not suffering from codependency in some form may share lifes experience in better harmony.

I think Soul Mate searchers are really looking for this harmony. But the secret is, harmony comes from within. And it is from your harmonic relationship with yourself that you have a chance to create a harmonic relationship with another. But of course, codependently searching for your Soul Mate distracts you from having to look at your relationship with yourself.

Melissa I agree with your understanding, and to expand on some of what I previously said about inner beauty, to me there exists one true unchanging beauty, and that is of one being loving another. Soulmate searching to me is a powerful expression of wanting to love fully in unity, whether or not this is co-dependant, the faith of heart and spirit of the pursuer is real and sincere.

Mark, I can see more of what you mean now by inner beauty.

Unconditional love of another is truly beautiful. It’s not codependent, because one loves another not because they think it will make them happy — they simply love because they want to, and because they can’t “go back” to not loving. It’s a gift that asks for nothing in return.

The way you say “Inside Job” is awesome! I can relate to that phrase in so many ways.
